Visual prompt cards are used to assist with oral language skills in the following areas: activity retells, show and tell (or object descriptions) and event based news.
Diana Rigg’s four day oral language program is implemented, where-by, a focus book is used for the week. Narrative skills are broken down into simple sequential steps. The outcome is that, by the end of the week, students can look at pictures and retell the entire story independently or with various prompt levels depending on the ability of the student.
We also focus on improved pronunciation, sentence structure and build vocabulary by practicing sounds in isolation, in words, in phrases and in sentences during daily speech sessions.
